Investigation on its properties for MR damper under high impact load

In order to identify its high shear viscosity of MR fluid, experiments were conducted by using the rotational viscometer and MR fluid was shown to exhibit nearly Newtonian fluids post-yield behavior. Then, an amended Herschel-Bulkley model is put forward to describe its dynamic behavior and shear-thinning phenomena of MR damper under impact load. Numerical simulation conclusions can show its dissipate energy of MR damper is gradually increased with its increment of input current, and these energies are mainly dissipated into their inner friction among ferromagnetic particles in MR fluids. Besides, it can be concluded that there exists an obviously hysteresis phenomenon on the relationship between damping force and velocity for MR damper under different input currents.
