A Fast Transducer Calibration Approach in HILS for Electrical Vortez Ergograph System

An Electrical Vortex Ergograph (EVE) is a popular experimental rig for vehicle powertrain performance test. The measurement and control of the EVE devices is of fundamental importance for safety concerns and economic reasons. A Hardware in the Loop Simulation (HILS) system is developed for the EVE system in this paper. Because the transducers of an EVE have long-term drift and nonlinear character which often cause signal output deviating from the real value, the orthogonal least squares (OLS), which uses an orthogonal transformation to decouple correlations between the model terms, is introduced for the developed HILS. The calibrating approach of the transducers is an integrating of data acquisition and analysis calculation with Matlab through Data Dynamic Exchange (DDE) technology. The automatic calibration forms part of the HILS and is applied to a laboratory scale experiment and then to the real system.
