Computational Analysis of Mizing Characteristics in Stirred Reactor by Single Azial Flow Impeller
Mixing time is an important parameter which describes blending homogenization and efficiency in stirred tank. In this paper, velocity and concentration fields in single tri-narrow-blade hydrofoil impeller (THI) agitated tank were calculated by means of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)method. The influences of feeding and detecting positions on mixing times and power consumption were discussed. Correspondly, experiments were carried out to validate the CFD results, which showed a good agreement with experiment data. The results show that the mixing process of material in agitated tank is controlled by velocity field. Mixing time related to feeding positions and the mixed time of charging-up close to blade is shorter than that in liquid level. In practice, the method of feeding in tip of blade is adopted probably. Mixing time detected in bottom of tank is most short by global comparions.
