Study on End-to-end Delay and Simulation of Fibre Channel Network in Avionics System Using OPNET

Fibre Channel, a computer communications protocol designed to meet many requirements related to the ever increasing demand for high performance information transfer, can be configured in a variety of systems, from simple point to point systems to multihop switched fabric systems, especially in the avionics system. By analyzing from Queue Theory perspective, a switch module has been presented in this paper to study the influence of the node number in the network to the end-to-end delay. Three fairly similar networks which differ from one another in the node numbers which are 8, 16 and 32 respectively are studied. Through simulation of these networks, average time in sytem is evaluated by Queue Theory, with end-to-end analyzed in the OPNET environment.
