Modeling of Gas Membrane Separation of Sulfur from Natural Gas
Separation of gas using polymeric membranes has become an important unit operation. Mathematical modelling of this process has attracted considerable attention in the past. A differential mathematical model for hollow fiber membrane gas separator was established and used for design and check calculation of multi component gas separation. The influences of the characteristics of feed gas, pressure drop within the hollow fibers and concentration polarization were taken into consideration. We developed computing software for gas membrane separation with lab view. The results showed that our model could provide more accurate characterizations of mixed gas permeance of hollow fiber membranes than other estimation methods. And this software was convenience for design and check calculation of multi component gas separation with hollow fiber membrane module. The research results in this paper can provide the reference to laboratory test on gas membrane separation and foundation for the application of gas membrane separation technique to industrialization.
