A Method for Laser-line Detection in a Three-dimensional Measurement System
In this paper, the characteristic of noise in the process of detecting laser-line in 3-dimesional measurement was analyzed, and a new method of detecting laser-line was proposed on the basis of comparing some prevalent methods. In this method, the effect of environment noise was firstly eliminated by subtracting the image without laser-stripe from the one with laser-stripe of the same scene. Threshold image segmentation method based on the variance between two classes was used to segment the upper image. The laser-stripe in the binary image was then dilated and the centre-line of the laser-stripe was picked up. By smoothing and joining the line to eliminate breakpoints though the template designed by the authors, a laser-line with one pixel width was finally obtained. Experimental results indicate that this method is excellent in fast-obtaining, high-precision and simple-operating, which meets the requirements of real-time 3-dimensional measurement.
