Weak Harmonic Signal Detection in Chaos Using Least Squares Support Vector Machines

A method to detect weak harmonic signal embedded in noisy chaotic background signal is presented. The method uses the least squares support vector machines (LS-SVM) to build one-step-head predictor for chaotic background signal, and combines the fast fourier transform (FFT) algorithm to process predictive error to detect the weak harmonic signal. This method can improve the signal-to-noise radio of system output. The chaotic series of Lorenz system is utilized as chaotic background signal for experiments. Experiment results were achieved from the computer simulation, which verify the effectiveness of the approach.
