The Globally Integrated Enterprise —A New Business Model of Global Operation

This article conceptually explores a newly emergent business model of global operation — the globally integrated enterprise. In order to understanding globally integrated enterprise, it rebuilds the traditional value chain by separating each kind of value activity from another and introducing location into each module, and compares the characteristics of globally integrated enterprise with that of multinational corporation. Then, it builds a globally integrated network to illustrate the relationships between a globally integrated enterprise and its intra-firm and inter-firm stakeholders, and the role of a globally integrated enterprise in this network. At last, it proposes an integrating framework, including resource-oriented integration of global value chain, competence-oriented integration of global workforce, and service-oriented integration of organizational architecture; at the same time, some benefits and challenges of global integration are also considered.
