A Benders Decomposition Approach for Collaborative Logistics Planning with LTL Transportation

Collaborative logistics means that multiple carriers or shippers form an alliance to optimize their transportation operations through sharing vehicle capacity. It is an effective way to eliminate empty back hauls and increase vehicle utilization rate. This paper studies a collaborative logistics planning problem with less than truckload transportation mode and develops a Benders decomposition approach to solve this problem. Based on the solution of the problem, a set of feasible vehicle tours can be constructed. Thirty randomly generated instances are tested to evaluate the performance of our proposed method.
