Analyzing the association between Chinas economic growth and energy consumption based on the decoupling indicators

China is now in a critical and rapid growth period in the industrial development and urbanization. The economic development model is changing from the extensive economic growth to intensive economic growth in the transition period and the industrial structure is mainly due to the second large industries in energy consumption. At this stage it is bound to consume a large amount of energy in order to maintain a rapid economic growth. To achieve the strategic goal of modernization by the middle of the 21th century, Chinas economic development will face a big problem of energy. In this article, we expatiated the economic growth and the status of energy consumption based on decoupling indicators to measure the association between energy consumption and the economic growth . To historical data for the years 1990-2007 sample, we can come to conclude that it , economic growth and energy consumption, is in absolute or relative decoupling situation at a certain stage after analysis of data.
