Parameter Estimation in Generalized Logistic Population Models: Bell Shaped Population Growth Rate of China in 1978--2007

Parameter estimation of a population model with population data of China in 1978--2007 is discussed in this paper. The carrying capacity of population is estimated by nonlinear least squares method. Using this carrying capacity, the parameters of the generalized logistic model are estimated via linear regression. A bell shaped change of growth rate of population is found in the population growth of China in this period.
