Empirical Study on Innovation Behavior among Manufacturing Companies in Zhejiang Province
This study performs empirical analysis on the influences of firm’s size, intellectual property strategy, exportation and agglomeration on innovation based on the large sample survey of manufacturing industry in Zhejiang province. When impact factors such as technical difference, property right structure, governmental support fund, brand, and technology intensive equipment are well controlled, the study obtains the following conclusions. First, a significant inverse U-shape relationship is found between size of firm and innovative behavior, with an inflexion with firm’s size. Second, the intellectual property strategy will significantly promote innovation behavior in enterprise. Third, the role of foreign trade on innovation behavior is insignificant and the one of agglomeration is uncertain, while the requirement of standardization of technology in developed countries which constitutes the technical barriers facilitates innovation behavior.
