The Multilevel Data and its Research in Mass Communication
Mass communication processes compel multilevel consideration, and one of the modeling techniques to multilevel data analysis is hierarchical linear models (HLM). There were some studies which used hierarchical linear models to analyze mass communication issues, such as predicting success of US films in foreign markets, memory for TV content, and effect of news media consumption on political participation, and so on. Based on the multilevel data in mass communication, this article introduces the hierarchical linear models and its new applications, and reviews the different methods and statistical models in different mass communication researches.
