The Structural Effects of Industrialization to the Growth of China’s Regional Economy ——An Empirical Study Based on Provincial Panel Data
The paper references to panel data from Chinas 28 provinces and municipalities from 1978 to 2006, and studies the impact of the changes of industrial structure, employment structure and spatial structure, representing the industrialization level, on Chinas regional economic growth. Empirical research results show that the industry structure change plays a significantly positive role in promoting economic growth in eastern, central and western areas of China, a significantly negative impact on the northeastern China. Employment structure change significantly promotes economic growth in central China, with a weak effect to eastern and western China, and a significant negative impact on northeastern China. Spatial structure change exerts a significantly negative impact on the national and regional economic growth.
