Research of the Classification among Students Based on Their Academic Performance
In the education, after an examination, teachers often divide students of a class or a grade into four degrees based on the average, such as, the excellent, the good, the middle and the poor. This work can meet the need to teach according to the students’ ability. This classification has certain limitations .In order to make the classification more reasonable, it is able to use the cluster analysis in the basis of the statistical knowledge. In this paper, the students are classified by the hierarchical cluster analysis based on their Chinese, Mathematics and English scores. If the problems have more indicators and the different indicators are interrelated, the cluster analysis of the principal components can simplify the solution.
