Research on Quaternion-Quintic Spherical Bezier Spline Interpolation Algorithm for 5-azis Machining
5-axis machines are important in a number of industries ranging from aerospace to consumer-mold machining. The conventional interpolation algorithms for 5-axis CNC machining are focused on studying techniques to design position, orientation, and feedrate curves in such a way using isoparametric correspondence as to avoid excessive angular velocities. However, it is difficult to guarantee such correspondence. To help alleviate such difficulties, a research on interpolation algorithm for 5-axis tool paths generated using quaternion-quintic spherical Bézier spline for tool positioning and orientation was presented in this paper. The proposed algorithm was verified by Matlab platform. The analysis of results was also provided in this paper.
