A Gravity-Law Inspired Survivability Enhancement Model for Wireless Sensor Networks
This paper focus on the survivability of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). We develop a model to evaluate the tradeoffs between the cost of defense mechanisms for wireless sensor network and the resulting expected survivability after a network attack. The model consists of three parts. The first part simulates the occurrence of attacks or incidents. The second part simulates the impact of an attack on the WSNs which depends on the type of attack and the defense mechanism installed in the network. And the third part assesses the survivability of the system which depends on the degree of its degradation after the attack. We demonstrate through simulation the model’s effectiveness in mitigating attacks.
