THE EFFECT OF INDUSTRIAL CHARACTER ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP: STUDY ON PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY AND MECHANISM INDUSTRY
Entrepreneurs constitute a key economic driving force for many emerging economies. In this paper, we explore how industrial characters affect entrepreneurship in firms. Through an investigation of over 274 public firms during a period of 2000 – 2006, we found that the firms in Pharmaceutical Industry dont prefer to internal entrepreneurship. However, the companies in Mechanism Industry will prefer entrepreneurship by internal and external investment for a better performance. The explanation for such complex relationship between industrial characters and firm entrepreneurship can be sought from an institutional theory.
