THE FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTIONS OF STUDENTS A COMPARISON BETWEEN FRANCE AND VENEZUELA
The purpose of this paper is to examine the factors that influence the intentions of Venezuelan and French students with regards to creating a company. Students from France and Venezuela have completed measurements of their Attitude toward Entrepreneurship, Subjective Norms, Perceived Feasibility, Framework Conditions and Entrepreneurial Intentions. It is a quantitative study that was conducted on 592 French students and 379 Venezuelan students during summer 2008. After analysis, factors that have an influence on students intentions are the same for both countries: Attitude toward Entrepreneurship and Perceived Feasibility to become an Entrepreneur. This means that these students, even though they are from very different countries, want to become an entrepreneur if they have a positive image of what an entrepreneur is and if they are self-confident enough to become an entrepreneur. This investigation not only compares a developing country to a developed one but it gives new information on entrepreneurial intentions of Venezuelan students and analyze the impact that can both have the internal as external environments.
