A TRUST AND RISK BASED DISPUTE SETTLEMENT MECHANISM IN E-VOTING
Do-over Democratic primaries in 2008 election focused our attention on thinking about re-vote cost and reputation of e-voting system. On the other side, fraud behaviors discourage public confidence in such system. In this paper, we propose a novel mechanism in e-voting system to help voting management center make decision whether they should take action in re-vote. Trust and risk are brought in to assist the process of such decision-making. The concept of trust in our paper is defined as a measurable belief of voters for their request of re-vote. The influence of fraud on the system would be reduced due to their low trust value. Additionally, risk presented here is related to the total cost of re-vote. Thus, voting management center would depend on these factors to make a rational decision. Furthermore, we presented an approach to find the relation between the complaining rate and risk to help voting management center customize their strategy. Finally, simulation results indicate that our mechanism not only hinders fraud attack but also lowers the election expense.
