The consistency of some kind of matriz equations
For some application problems in statistics, the idempotency of linear combinations of several matrices is investigated. One of these problems is how to describe all pairs (c1, c2) of nonzero complex numbers such that the linear combination C = c1A+c2B is an idempotent matrix, where A is an idempotent complex matrix ( i.e., A2 = A ) and B is an l -potent complex matrix ( i.e., Bl = B ). To study this problem, sometimes we need to discuss the consistency of some kind of matrix equations. Several results on the consistency of matrix equations are obtained in this paper.
