Nonlinearly preconditioned Jacobian-free Newton-Krylov methods
In this paper, we present a new nonlinear preconditioner for Jacobian-free Newton-Krylov methods. In our method, we solve a new nonlinear system which is equivalent to the original system but more balanced in nonlinearities. This new preconditioner is fully matrix-free. We apply this new preconditioner to the nonlinear system arising from the diserctization of 2D shallow-water equations. Numerical results show that with this new preconditioner, Newton-GMRES method can be more efficient and robust.
