Application of Biochip and Bionano Sensing Technology for Detection of Bioactivity and Harmful Substances in Organism

Nano materials such as gold, silver nanoparticles and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have attracted much attention over the past decade due to their diminutive size and novel material properties 1, 2. Their nanometer scale size made them suitable for many new applications with different properties concerning the bulk materials 3, especially exhibited a strong UV-Vis absorption signals which could be used as a non-labeling sensing method for biomolecular interactions 4, like localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). LSPR is well known in physics that the incident photon frequency is resonant with the collective oscillation of the spatially confined conduction electrons on a noble metal nanoparticle 5. In comparison with several reported label-free biosensors based on surface plasmon resonance 6 and quartz crystal microbalance 7, the LSPR nanosensor based on nanoparticle size and shape could yield ultrasensitive bio-detection with extremely simple, small, light, robust, and low-cost instrumentation 8. In this paper, novel optical biochips assembled with various nano materials like gold and silver nanoparticles on Au surface has been constructed for detection of bioactive and harmful substances in organism like antibody-antigen protein, DNA oncogene molecules.
