MODELING FORMWORK PRESSURE OF SCC
The formwork pressure of SCC is greater than normal concrete due to its greater fluidity.Laboratory and field testing confirms that formwork pressures take longer to subside when SCC is uscd. A model for formwork pressure was developed to allow engineers to predict pressures and relate pressures to pouring rate. The model utilizes a simple column test to characterize an SCC material decay signature. The model can then account for field variation in placement rate, and predict the pressure at any point of interest. The model has been validated by laboratory tests and about 40 field projects involving tall wall structures.
