MINIMUM THICKNESS OF SIMPLY SUPPORTED RECTANGULAR SCC SLABS USING TENSION STIFFENING MODEL

A method is proposed to arrive at minimum thickness of simply supported rectangular slabs subjected to distributed loading. The method is formulated on the basis of tension stiffening model suggested in Euro code. The effect of sustained load to working load has been included. About 1728 designs were generated using the design variables viz., aspect ratio, percentage of reinforcement, grade of concrete and steel. The effective depths thus obtained were compared with those obtained from other codes of practices viz., ACL318, CAN A23.3and Scanlons recommendations. The design charts are presented for ready use.
