Study of Z-Source Inverter for Grid-Connected PV System

In order to solve the limitations of traditional inverter, a new type of inverter named Z-source inverter was presented, which can overcome the drawbacks of the traditional inverter. It employs a unique impedance network (Z-network), which allows the Z-source inverter to have some new features, which are disabled on traditional inverter. By controlling the shoot-through duty cycle, the PV array output voltage is controlled and the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is realized and the experiment results have validated the operating principle.
