Research on Constant Voltage Reset (CVR) Two Transistor Forward Converter

As known, two transistor forward (TTF) converter has to be operated with the duty cycle less than 0.5 in order to realize the main transformer reset. And this disadvantage will restrict the range of the input voltage and the further improvement of the system efficiency definitely. Constant voltage reset (CVR) circuit is quite an effective measure to increase the maximum duty cycle which benefits lower secondary rectifier voltage rating and higher efficiency. Here, the CVR circuit will be introduced, an analysis model is proposed, and a detail design guideline of CVR circuit will be given. Finally the CVR circuit for a 280W TTF power supply is designed, and both the simulation and the test results are shown.
