Design of Solar Home System for Rural Areas
Among many choices of renewable energy sources, Solar Energy is the most abundant and constant stream of energy. Utilization of Solar Energy is in two ways: solar thermal and solar electric. In this paper, components of the systems such as photovoltaic module, battery, and charge controller are presented. Solar Home System has been chosen and designed to be used for home lighting and battery charging, etc. Three models of Solar Home System are sized and designed for the provision of electricity to different target groups categorized under their different incomes (Low income group, Medium income group and High income group).The design calculation will indicate to determine how much energy is required, how many solar modules are needed to generate electricity, what rating and type of charge controller and the number of deep cycle batteries which are available in Myanmar. These models will help for users as ready-made packages.
