ELASTIC PROPERTIES OF SANDSTONE AND THEIR USE IN PETROLEUM ENGINEERING STUDIES
Major factors influencing wellbore stability are summarized and used in a detailed study in which well collapse pressure is calculated using the Mohr-Coulomb and the modified Lade criterion, both for linear and nonlinear rock model. The modified Lade criterion predicts well collapse pressures that are less conservative than those predicted by the Mohr-Coulomb criterion and nonlinear model gives predictions even less conservative than the modified Lade criterion. The effect of wellbore inclination on stability is also discussed.
