RESEARCH ON THE FEASIBILITY OF STRONGLY WEATHERED DIORITE SERVING AS NATURAL FOUNDATION
This article derives from the project of the office building of China Industrial and Commercial Bank, Shandong Branch. The normal investigation together with test in-situ has been applied in the project. The physical and mechanical properties of the strongly weathered diorite were analyzed deeply by the methods of field exploration, laboratory test and testing in-situ. It is feasible for the intensively weathering diorite to serve as natural foundation after the research of intensive study and the evaluation of bearing capacity and settlement deformation. It is proved that such foundation treatment saved about RMB2,000,000 compared with the pile foundation. Moreover, the process of excavation of the construction is speed up obviously, the difficulty of excavation is less as well as a tremendous economic and social benefits is obtained.
