INVESTIGATION OF DEPRESSURIZED MINING FOR INCLINED MEDIUM-THICK ORE-BODY AND APPLICATION

In the metal mines with underground mining, 23% of their ore bodies are the inclined medium-thick ore bodies. The percentage will be increased with deeper mining. As a result, the moving condition of broken ore becomes worse. Once the excavated working fails due to ground pressure, the ore may be lost permanently. With increasing of mining depth, excavated working may be at higher risk of ground pressure failure. In order to keep the workings in good stability, the ground pressure may be released around the surrounding rock if the dip angle and the thickness of a deposit are appropriate. A depressurized mining method for the inclined medium-thick ore-body is proposed in the paper and successfully used in the Chambishi copper mine of Zambia.
