Raise boring machine and a new construction method of vertical pipe shaft for draining gas in coal mine
The properties and application of raise boring machine are introduced. Several common meth ods are mentioned about extending gas drainage pipe from the ground to underground roadway, and a com parison of their safety and economy is conducted. And then this paper has discussed the new construction method of vertical pipe shaft for draining gas in coal mine by engineering example. Namely, at first, raise boring machine drills pilot hole with a diameter of 216 mm and reams it with design diameter, then seam less steel pipe or spiral steel pipe are installed by A-type derrick and water source drill rig, at last, the back of steel pipe is filled by cement mortar. The diameter of the vertical pipe shaft for draining gas is from 500 mm to 2500 mm. The new construction method has five features. First, it just needs a 6m x6m construction platform. Second, rock debris directly falls into underground roadway without mud carryiny it when hole reaming. Third, casing is not needed and gas drainage pipe is only installed. Fourth, The pipe and surrounding rock are connected into one body so that it becomes a permanent vertical pipe shaft for draining gas without being examined and repaired later. Fifth, it is better than other methods in safety and completion speed. The practice shows that it is worth popularizing as a new construction method, which is a safe , economical and rapid method.
