Research on application of self-ezcited pulsed water jet in uncovering rock cross-cut coal

The long period of rock cross-cut coal uncovering seriously impairs the safety of coal mining production and restricts driving face supersedure in mines of southwest China. To solve the problem, a new idea using self-excited pulsed water jet slotting is proposed to improve the permeability of seam, which in creases the gas desorption rate, and shortens the cycle of rock cross-cut coal uncovering. Forming mecha nism and characteristics of self-excited pulsed water jet, the effecting properties on cracked ratio of coal mine and are studied. Considering the particularity of rock cross-cut coal uncovering in southwest China, the device for drilling and slotting with self-excited pulsed water jet is designed. The hydraulic parameters of self-excited pulsed water jet and the self-excited nozzle structure are optimized by studying the pump pressure, flow rate, and their relationship with the depth and width of cutting and the gas desorption rate. Through application in Feng-Chun coal mine, the results show that the influent scale range of self-excited pulsed water jet reaches to 1. 5m or more in coal seam, and the amount of gas adsorption increases by 4. 4 times. The efficiency of coal mining production increases by reducing amount of drilling holes by 60% , and shortening construction period by more than 70 days.
