Rapid construction of panel ventilation shaft in high gassy mine

It is always a sticking point for preventing gas accident and realizing safety production to estab lish a rational and perfect system of ventilation and ensure the sufficient ventilation quantity for every work ing area so that no place in underground would accumulate superfluous gas. With the increase of mining intensity and mining depth, it is much more necessary to carry out the research into the ventilation system one panel one ventilation shaft , which means to construct one upcast shaft in every mining panel and make all face galleries to be draughty drifts. As such, the boundary upcast central downcast ventilation mode could be implemented resulting in the increase of gas discharging capacity by ventilation and meeting the needs of production. A quick way is discussed forming the ventilation capacity for panel by using raise boring machine in high gassy mine. Finally some case histories are presented to show the application of raise boring machine in the construction of Xiao-Dong-Shan ventilation shaft in Sihe Mine, Shanxi Prov ince.
