Improvement of Soils Fertility Management in Cocoa Plantations in Togo
Cocoa ( Theobroma cacao L) is the main cash crop for millions of small farmers in several tropical developing countries. Soil analysis of 120 soil samples taken in Togo cocoa zones provided data which have been processed by Soil Diagnostic software. It allowed to appreciate soil fertility from relationships between soil mineral elements and individual level of each of them. Almost all the soils in both Litime and Akebou are acid ( Litime, 90% ; Akebou, 80% ), while those in Kioto are merely neutral (36% of acid soils). In consideration of all these we can finally notice that zones of important acid soils need less fertilizer (Akebou 1727 g; Kioto 3585 g; Litime 2584 g).
