Influences of Liming on Maize Yields
Two field trials with liming were conducted on planosol soil type in the northern Bosnia ( by hydratized dolomite meal using doses up to 20 t · ha-1) and vertisol soil type in the central Serbia ( by calcite using doses up to 8 t · ha-1). In general, maize yield was considerably influenced by liming. For example, the liming resulted by maize yield increase in Bosnia for 48% (3-year, 2005 -2007 mean grain yields; 4. 19 and 6. 23 t · ha-1, for 0 and 20 t · ha-1 of lime) and in Serbia for 29% (4-year, 1999 -2002 mean ensilaged maize yield: 23. 4 and 30. 1 t · ha-1, for 0 and 8 t · ha-1 of lime).
