Sustainable Agroecosystems in South China with Subtropical Latosols
In order to overcome soil acidity, poor nutrition and erosion problems in humid subtropical environments, sustainable agroecosystem patterns have been identified in South China. Multilayer perennial plant communities are adaptable to hilly and slope land areas, rice based rotation systems are adaptable to plain areas, while fish pond and dike system, low ditch and high bed systems are adaptable to lowland areas. Some of the recent development of these systems is also introduced.
