Study of Dynamic Responses of T-joint Steel Tubular under High Temperature and Impact Loading

This paper presents finite element approach for analyzing T-joint of steel tubular subjected to high temperature and impact loads. The models adopt shell element and cover the effects of temperature and rate-dependent strain-rate. The results may be different from static load to blast load because of the enhanced yield strength due to high strain-rate. The influence of velocity- pressure and temperature are considered of the dynamic responses of T-joints under impact loads. By analyzing the joint subject to blast and temperature form 20℃ to 700℃. It is proposed that the carrying capacity of joint is decreased with the temperature increasing. At the same time the carrying capacity would improve while considering the influence of high-strain rate. Furthermore, the effect of stress strengthen is more obviously at high temperature.
