Numerical Analysis of Welding Composite Steel-Beam for Considering the Influence of Scallop Structure
Scallop is a common welding technology for the steel-beam composed with welding. The scallop structure is one of the primary cause of the stress concentration, as well as the influencing factor of welding quality. It is necessary to carry out rigorous calculated analysis and experimental study. However, the residual stress of welding is commonly ignored for FEA of beam-column connections. In order to gain satisfied analysis results, the structural analysis is based on the thermal analysis in the study. For adopting ANSYS software, in this paper, the thermal analysis is finished firstly on the composite steel-beam with scallop and no scallop. It means that in considering the effects of temperature, temperature distribution and residual stress of the steel-beam are compared for different scallop. Next, the analysis is done under loading, the stress and strain distribution in internal structure are described.
