Thoughts and Suggestions on Buildings Reconstruction after Earthquake at Wenchuan in Sichuan
According to the buildings damage checked and measured after the intense earthquake in Mianzhu city, some suggestions on the buildings reconstruction are proposed. (1) Avoiding principle. The reconstruction buildings must avoid the seismic belt and the regions that would liquefy or the secondary disaster seriously happened. In this way, the cost of buildings reconstruction may be saved. Also, it can efficiently guard against earthquake and absorb shock. (2) Optimizing the structure model principle. The different structure buildings at the same region had been damaged differently in the damage evaluations after earthquake. For example, the brickwork-concrete structure buildings had been severely damaged. While, the entire cast-in-place concrete structure buildings had minor damage. (3) According to the seismic fortification principle that the buildings are not been damaged at the small earthquake and can be repaired after the medium earthquake and do not collapse at the intense earthquake, the building design of dissipating energy and absorbing shock is focused. At the small earthquake, the buildings resist the seismic action by the loading capacity of itself. While, the buildings dissipate the earthquake energy by the structure ductility at the medium and intense earthquake. So, in the buildings reconstruction after earthquake, the buildings have the high capacity of resisting earthquake using the ductility design and the device of dissipating energy and absorbing shock. (4) Setting the structural measures of resisting earthquake. The collapse buildings checked and measured after earthquake had not been set the structural measures. For example, the hybrid structure buildings without girths and construction columns had collapsed at the intense earthquake. However, the buildings with structural measures of resisting earthquake had minor damage and be applied continuously after repairing.
