Performance Assessment of Reticulated Shells Subjected to Three-Dimensional Seismic Ezcitations

The performance assessment of a reticulated shell subjected to three-dimensional seismic excitations is actively carried out in this study. A real reticulated shell constructed in China is taken as an example to establish the analytical model based on finite element method by using a developed analytical program. Two ground motion acceleration histories with different frequency characteristics are adopted for the performance assessment. The nodal deformation and internal forces of the shell subjected to 2D and 3D earthquake are also computed and compared with those under 1D excitation. The structural responses for different types of seismic excitations are also compared to each other for investigating the effects of seismic frequency components. In addition, the structural responses under different damping levels are also analyzed to examine the effects of damping ratios on the structural dynamic performance.
