Study on Seismic Performance and Conceptual Design of 3d-Frames with Special-Shaped Columns

Based on summarizing the experimental results of frames with special-shaped columns, the principles and the requests of conceptual design, including structural arrangement, length-width ratio of columns limb, stiffness ratio of column to beam and so on, are expounded in this article. A numerical example is given and parameters affecting the seismic performance of special-shaped column frame are expounded. The seismic performance of structure under fortification and rare seismic actions was reviewed by utilizing incremental dynamics analysis. The main contents in this article include the progress of study, conceptual design, a living engineering example of special-shaped column frame structure and rationality analysis of structure design. After example analysis, the rationality ratio of axial compression stress to strength, displacement control, torsion effect and scientific design ideas were put forward. The study results meet the seismic fortification targets, which named no failure under minor earthquake, repairable under moderate earthquake and no collapse under major earthquake.
