The Migrating Rule of the Small Earthquakes in Western China before the Wenchuan Earthquake
In order to study the activity rule of the small earthquakes in western China before the Wenchuan earthquake and its relation with the Wenchuan earthquake, the author did statistics and analysis on the small earthquakes in west China during four months before the Wenchuan earthquake, according to the seismic data from the China Earthquake Net Center. Longitude-latitude net was introduced to be the statistical interval in the statistical process, on this basis, drawing contour maps accord to the earthquake times in every longitude-latitude net. Based on the research, a phenomenon has been discovered that the small earthquakes activity centers in western China moved from west to east and arrived in the vicinity of Wenchuan in April. The collision between Qinghai-Tibet plate and India plate is verified to be the main cause of the formation of the ground stress in western China. The ground stress was born in the collision zone of these two plates, and it presented the feature of migration from west to the east.
