Characteristics of Railway Damage due to Wenchuan Earthquake and Location and Overall Design Research of Railway in Mountainous Area with High Earthquake Intensity
The planned Chengdu-Lanzhou railway lies in the middle section of well-known South-North seismic tectonic belt, passes through the Longmenshan faulted zone where the 5 · 12 Wenchuan earthquake happened. This Wenchuan Earthquake destroyed and altered its geological environment, especially induced the vast geologic hazard, which brings great challenge to location and engineering design of Chengdu-Lanzhou railway in this area. This paper, based on the sufficient recognition of 5 · 12 Wenchuan earthquake and regularity of its geologic hazard as well as effect of secondary geologic disasters on railway, has researched into the countermeasures of preventing or alleviating disasters in the mountainous areas with high earthquake intensity and presented the principle of location and overall design for Chengdu-Lanzhou railway.
