An Analysis of the Process of Information Realization in Information Systems based on Hermeneutics and Semiotics
How to understand and approach the essence of information is probably the most important and the most fundamental question in the field of information systems. We draw on Heidegger and Ricoeurs hermeneutics and systematically construct the general process of information realization in terms of particularly how what a piece of information means to a receiver is materialized. Then,we analyse the relationship between information and data by using semiotics,based upon which we construct a structure whereby the process of information realization can occur. The paper reveals that the process of information realization is a process in which multiple meanings and multiple layers of meaning of information are arrived at through interpretation. This investigation would seem highly desirable and important both for theoretic research and practice.
