High Performance Tundish Design at Arcelor Mittal Lazaro Cardenas
Due to problems related with steel cleanness linked with operational procedures a new tundish design of high performance has been designed in this plant. This new design mitigates metal flow turbulence during ladle change operations and start ups of casting sequences. Control of total oxygen in steel at the level of 15 ppm is regularly attained during steady operation. Steel residual after a casting sequence can be as low as 1 ton without slag passage to the molds.
