The Home-country Employment Effect of Outward FDI from China
The article considers the effects of outward foreign direct investment on employment in China, a country that emerged as an important developing country as part of its increased integration with the global economy. The results indicate that outward FDI from China had a positive impact on the home-country employment growth, especially in services firms. Our results imply that the logic of the outward investments from low-cost transition and developing economies differs from that of high-income countries.
