THE INFLUENCE OF DRY CURING CONDITIONS ON COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH DEVELOPMENT OF CONCRETE

Insufficient water or moisture supply often occurs during curing period of site-cast concrete, which leads to loss of compressive strength of concrete and negative effects on durability. In this paper, the effect of dry curing conditions on the strength properties of concrete was investigated by test and models. In the test, the air curing regime was applied to 15 prism specimens. The compressive strength tests on the specimens were carried out at the ages of 7, 15, 28, 80and 128 days. It was found that air-curing has negative effect on the strength development of concrete. In addition, the variation of compressive strength with time under air curing conditions was evaluated by using the maturity model and the humidity-adjusted rate constant model (HRCAM), and a combining method based on the maturity method and HRCAM was proposed to predict the strength development of concrete cured in air condition at different ages.
