EVALUATION OF STRUCTURAL PERFORMANCE USING QUASI-STATIC TEST OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE WALL
This paper introduces the experimental tests of large-scale models including post-tensioned continuous span slabs and pre-stressed concrete wall. Structural wall system can be used effectively for controlling the lateral drift against seismic or wind loads. In most high-rise apartment buildings, the structural walls are used for this purpose. The wall has a rectangular shape with U-stirrups and tie hooks at boundaries of the wall. The boundary conditions of the structural wall are studied. The transverse reinforcements of boundary elements in structural walls, which satisfy the code for the minimum transverse reinforcement in a tied column, can confine the concrete at the boundary of the wall. All tested walls have the deformation capacity larger than 2.5%. The pre-stressed concrete wall specimens reached the failure by sliding at the joints and diagonal compressive cracks at the wall panels, which are very similar to reinforced concrete specimen. The specimens connected vertically by welding show high ultimate strength. However, the brittle failure in the walls occurs after the ultimate strength. The tests are carried out for evaluating the structural performance by the advanced structural research station (stress). Brief explanation and conclusion are made based on the test results.
