THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY AND COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE PRODUCED FROM RAW PERLITE AGGREGATE
In this paper, raw perlite aggregate (RPA) was investigated the availability in the production of lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC). Therefore, the RPA was used to produce the LWAC in different rate instead of sand. To determine the effect of RPA ratio, on the compressive strength and thermal conductivities of concrete, (1) 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% RPA ratios were used instead of normal aggregate by volume, and (2) 5±1cm slump was also used in this study. Some properties such as unit weights, thermal conductivities and compressive strengths of these LWAC obtained were compared to the some properties of the concrete by using sand. It was observed that the unit weights and thermal conductivity of the concretes produced by using the RPA were 7%-25% and 13%-41% lower than those of the concretes by using normal aggregate (NA). As a result, it has been obtained that the RPA will be able to used in the LWAC production and for the heat insulation and load bearing.
